He had been fighting brain cancer with courage and lucidity for the past 2 and a half years.<br \/><br \/>Prof. Le F\u00e8vre was the key person to get the PFS project off the ground, bringing Laboratoire d\u2019Astrophysique de Marseille as a full partner of the collaboration. <br \/>He had a strong scientific vision especially in high-redshift science as well as expertise in instrumentation that made it possible for the amazing team of engineers at LAM to work on the PFS. &nbsp;Under his leadership, LAM has been making crucial contributions to the developments of spectrograph system and 1D pipeline both of which are at the heart of PFS.<br \/><br \/>The PFS collaboration will dearly miss Prof. Le F\u00e8vre.<br \/><br \/>The official obituary from LAM can be found here.<br \/><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lam.fr\/les-actualites\/article\/olivier-le-fevre\">https:\/\/www.lam.fr\/les-actualites\/article\/olivier-le-fevre<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Prof. Olivier Le F\u00e8vre passed away on June 25, 2020 at the age of 59.
