Time flies; it’s already a half of 2024 was over. In this article we are goin to report that we have achieved a milestone in the middle of June.

The PFS instrument obtains about 2400 spectra using 4 spectrograph modules. Each module has three cameras; blue, red and near-infrared. Among of them, the near-infrared cameras have been developed at Johns Hopkins University (JHU, the United States of America). The forth camera was successfully completed in the middle of May 2024 and shipped to Subaru Telescope in Hawaii.

The camera was delivered to Subaru Telescope in the end of May. Then in the middle of June, the camera was transported to the forth floor in the dome building, where the spectrograph modules are installed, and integrated to the spectrograph module 4. So far, we have validated its vacuum level and thermal performance and are testing the camera focus and image quality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Refurbishing the near-infrared camera for spectrograph module 1 was also completed. The camera will be shipped soon — we look forward to seeing all the 12 cameras are sitting together on the bench at Subaru Telescope.<\/p>\n\n\n
