For five days from July 3 to 7, the IAU (International Astronomical Union) Asia-Pacific regional meeting was held in Taipei, where the project manager Dr. Naoyuki Tamura (Kavli IPMU, project associate professor) gave a talk and introduced the current status of the PFS project, the instrument under development, and large-sky survey program under planning. Also, there was a poster presentation from ASIAA (Academia Sinica Institute of Astronomy and Astrophysics) about their development of PFS Metrology Camera System
.
While there were many participants from those areas committing not only to observational facilities in operation such as Subaru, ALMA (Atacama Large Millimeter Array), and CFHT (Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope) but also to future big projects such as TMT (Thirty Meter Telescope) and GMT (Giant Magellan Telescope), it was a good opportunity for us to realize strong interests on the PFS instrument on Subaru Telescope.
